The short answer
Choose Murph
Choose Murph when another audio session is not the answer. Murph looks at your symptoms, routines, records, and goals, helps you make a decision, and follows it with a reminder or a later check-in.
Choose Calm
Choose Calm if what you mainly want is a deep on-demand catalog: meditations, bedtime stories, music, ambient sounds, breathing sessions, and movement content.
Can Murph and Calm work together?
Use Calm when a meditation, a Sleep Story, or a soundscape is what you have decided to do. Use Murph to work out why that fits, keep it small, and later ask whether it actually helped. Murph does not receive Calm's library or your listening history.

Material tradeoffs
- The big catalog gives you variety, but finding the right session can take more browsing than following one structured program.
- Murph has no catalog of ready-to-play meditation or sleep audio. It is only worth using if you want an active, personal conversation.
- Trial and renewal terms differ across Calm's official pages, app stores, regions, and promotions, so read the checkout screen carefully.
Common questions about Murph and Calm
What is the main difference between Calm and Murph?
Calm gives you ready-to-play audio and guided practice whenever you want it. Murph has no library like that. It starts from your own health question in messaging, uses what it already knows about you, and carries the next step into a reminder or a later conversation.
Can I use Calm for free?
Yes, in part. Calm offers some free sessions, and most of its catalog and programs sit in Premium. Trial length, annual price, promotions, app store terms, and regional offers can differ, so check the final checkout screen.
Is Calm a mental-health treatment service?
No. The standard Calm app offers wellness and relaxation content, not diagnosis or psychotherapy. Calm also sells separate employer and health plan products, but an ordinary Premium subscription does not include those services.
