The short answer
Choose Murph
Choose Murph if you have enough nightly graphs already. Murph reads them from Apple Health, remembers your symptoms, routines, goals, and past attempts, and helps you decide what to try, what to watch, and what to raise with a clinician.
Choose Pillow
Choose Pillow if you want automatic Apple Watch sleep sessions, audio detection from your phone, a wake window, and a detailed sleep history in an Apple-only app.
Can Murph and Pillow work together?
Let Pillow collect the sleep session, the audio, and the wake window. Pillow can save sleep to Apple Health, and Murph reads Apple Health, so the record can reach Murph that way. Murph adds your routine, symptoms, and how you feel, then helps you decide whether to act or keep watching.

Material tradeoffs
- Pillow can combine wrist data and bedroom audio, but a partner, pets, room noise, and where the microphone sits can all affect how sounds get labeled.
- Pillow only runs on Apple devices, and many of the advanced analytics and convenience features need Premium.
- Pillow collects data passively, records audio, and runs an alarm. Murph cannot replace any of that, and it only adds value if you talk with it about the log.
Common questions about Murph and Pillow
What separates Pillow from Murph?
Pillow tracks and records the night inside Apple's ecosystem. Murph does not track anything itself. It works in messaging, where it can set those nights beside symptoms, routines, workouts, or records, explain the tradeoffs of each option, and follow up on your decision with a later check-in.
Does Pillow require Apple Watch?
No. You can start a sleep session from an iPhone or iPad, including audio analysis where permitted. Apple Watch adds automatic wrist tracking and richer heart data.
Can Pillow's audio analysis diagnose sleep apnea?
No. Pillow can label possible sounds and breathing events and estimate sleep stages, but these are consumer wellness estimates. Diagnosing sleep apnea or any other sleep condition takes a clinician and proper testing.
